.In the international traffic and transport of goods the region of Kanjiža plays an important role. As a state border municipality, it is one of the busiest export-import points that lead toards Central European countries. On the territory of the municipality there is both a road state crossing and a railway state crossing on the Serbian-Hungarian state border near Horgoš.
Kanjiža is a river municipality as well.
For nine conturies, being part of different countries, Kanjiža enjoyed the benefits of its position with a river crossing.
Transport of people and goods between north banat and north Bačka is conducted via this bridge. The possibility of river transport on the Tisa unfortunately remains unused.
